Fractional Integrator Cost: What You Pay and What You Get
Know the number before you book the call.
A fixed $4,000 for the first two weeks, then a monthly fee for the seat. Scope and price are agreed in writing before the seat starts.
Typical engagement: $2,500–$6,000/mo · starts with a $4,000 two-week Clarity Sprint
Quick answer
A fractional integrator costs $2,500 to $6,000 a month for about one day a week, after a $4,000 two-week Clarity Sprint. The first year therefore runs about $34,000 to $76,000. A full-time COO typically costs $150,000 to $300,000 or more a year and takes three to six months to hire. Where you land in the range depends on days per week, company size and scope, and the fee is agreed in writing before the seat starts.

Fractional integrator pricing: what each level costs
Every engagement starts with a signed NDA and a two-week Clarity Sprint at $4,000. Scope and fees for what follows are agreed in writing before the seat starts.

Background
How the price is built
The Integrator runs the business day to day. The Visionary drives ideas and relationships. A Fractional Integrator fills the Integrator seat part-time.
The price has three parts. First, the Clarity Sprint: a fixed $4,000 for two weeks that produces a written diagnostic, a draft scorecard and a 90-day plan. Second, the monthly fee for the Integrator seat, which runs $2,500 to $6,000 for about one day a week. Third, a higher-touch option for periods of heavy change, scoped and priced after the Sprint.
Three things move the monthly number: how many days a week the seat needs, the size of the company and its leadership team, and how much the seat has to own beyond the weekly rhythm, such as hiring support or ownership of delivery.
That is why the fee is a range and not a flat rate. The Clarity Sprint shows what the seat has to own in your company, and the scope, deliverables, responsibilities and fee for what follows are agreed in writing before the seat starts.
The first year works out to about $34,000 to $76,000: twelve months at $2,500 to $6,000, plus the $4,000 Sprint. You can stop after the Sprint with the written report in hand. Once the seat starts, the first quarter is a commitment, which is three monthly fees, about $7,500 to $18,000. After that it runs month to month with 30 days notice either way.
Fees are paid as a contractor invoice. There is no payroll, no benefits and no equity, and if you stop you keep the scorecard, the playbooks and the documented seat.
The useful comparison is not another consultant. It is a full-time Integrator or COO hire, which typically costs $150,000 to $300,000 or more a year in salary and benefits and takes three to six months to hire, or leaving the seat empty with the founder doing both jobs.
Fractional Integrator cost vs Full-time COO cost
| Dimension | Fractional Integrator cost | Full-time COO cost |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per year (US) | $30,000-$72,000 ($2,500-$6,000 a month) | $150,000-$300,000+ including salary, benefits and equity |
| One-off start cost | $4,000 Clarity Sprint, with a written report you keep | Search and hiring costs, plus onboarding time |
| First-year total | About $34,000-$76,000 | $150,000-$300,000+, plus the cost of the search |
| Time to start | Two-week Sprint, then in the seat from week 3 | 3-6 months (search, interview, notice period, onboarding) |
| Minimum commitment | First quarter of the seat, then month to month with 30 days notice | Permanent employment, with notice periods and severance risk |
| How you pay | Monthly contractor invoice. No payroll, benefits or equity | Payroll, benefits, equity and employer taxes |
| What the price does not buy | Daily presence for every operational fire | Nothing is left out: present every day |
Symptoms
Signs paying for a fractional integrator makes sense
Founder time is going to follow-up
If you spend hours each week chasing updates and re-running the same decisions, the real cost is your time. The seat exists to take that work off you.
A full-time hire is not justified yet
At roughly 10 to 75 people, a six-figure COO salary is hard to justify by what the seat produces. A part-time seat gets the same weekly rhythm at a fraction of the cost.
You need the seat filled this month
A full-time search takes three to six months. The Clarity Sprint starts within days of the fit call and the seat begins in week three.
You want a clean way out if it does not fit
After the first quarter the engagement runs month to month with 30 days notice, and you keep the scorecard, the playbooks and the documented seat.
Scope of work
What the seat actually covers, week to week
Not advisory hours. Not a slide deck at the end of the quarter. This is the operating work of the Integrator seat, done consistently, every week.
Own the Level 10 Meeting™
Hold the agenda, keep it inside 90 minutes, and make sure the Issues List produces IDS decisions instead of another round of discussion next week.
Own the Scorecard
Review the 5–15 weekly numbers against goal, flag anything off-track immediately, and assign a name and a date to fix it.
Drive Rocks and To-Dos to completion
Check in with each Rock owner weekly, unblock what's stuck, and report a clear on-track/off-track status - no surprises at quarter-end.
Keep the Accountability Chart current
Confirm the right person is in the right seat for what the business needs today, and flag GWC gaps to the Visionary early, not after a hire goes wrong.
Translate vision into an executable plan
Take ideas from the V/TO and turn them into a sequenced quarterly plan the rest of the Leadership Team can actually run against.
Resolve cross-functional friction
Sit at the intersection of sales, ops, and delivery to solve the issues that stall projects - work a Visionary rarely has the bandwidth or neutrality to do well.
Fair questions
What founders usually ask before saying yes
Not a highlight reel - the actual pushback we hear on the fit call, answered here first.
"Is $4,000 for a two-week sprint worth it?"
You get a written report on where execution breaks, a draft scorecard and a 90-day priority plan. If you stop there, the report is still yours. It is the cheapest way to find out whether the seat would help before you commit to a monthly fee.
"Why a range instead of one price?"
Because the right scope depends on your company. Days per week, team size and how much the seat must own all change the work. The Clarity Sprint shows which applies, and the fee is agreed in writing before the seat starts.
"Can we pay less for fewer hours?"
Yes. The Advisor level is about half a day a week, for companies that already have someone in the Integrator seat and want a trained eye beside them. It is priced after the Clarity Sprint.
"What if we want to stop?"
You can stop after the Sprint with the written report. Once the seat starts, the first quarter is a commitment. After that it runs month to month with 30 days notice either way, and nothing is locked behind me.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
How much does a fractional integrator cost?+
A fractional integrator costs $2,500 to $6,000 a month for about one day a week, after a $4,000 two-week Clarity Sprint. Where you land in that range depends on days per week, company size and scope, agreed in writing before the seat starts. A full-time COO typically costs $150,000 to $300,000 or more a year.
What does the $4,000 Clarity Sprint include?+
Two weeks inside your business. I sit in your leadership meeting, read your numbers and talk to each leader. You get a written report on where execution breaks, a draft scorecard and a 90-day priority plan. If you stop there, the report is still yours.
What does the first year cost in total?+
About $34,000 to $76,000: twelve months at $2,500 to $6,000, plus the $4,000 Clarity Sprint. Higher-touch engagements are scoped and priced separately after the Sprint.
What decides where in the range my price lands?+
Three things: how many days a week the seat needs, the size of your company and leadership team, and how much the seat has to own beyond the weekly rhythm, such as hiring support or delivery. The Clarity Sprint shows which applies, and the fee is agreed in writing before the seat starts.
Is there a minimum commitment?+
The first quarter of the seat is a commitment, because a rhythm does not hold in less. After that it runs month to month with 30 days notice either way. You can also stop after the Clarity Sprint with the written report.
Can I pay less for fewer hours?+
Yes. The Advisor level is about half a day a week, for companies that already have someone in the Integrator seat and want a trained eye beside them. It is priced after the Clarity Sprint.
Is a fractional integrator cheaper than a full-time COO?+
Substantially. A fractional integrator is about $30,000 to $72,000 a year plus the $4,000 Sprint. A full-time COO typically costs $150,000 to $300,000 or more a year and takes three to six months to hire. The roles are not identical in daily presence, so read the full comparison before deciding.
Do you take equity instead of a fee?+
No. This is paid work with a fee agreed in writing. Equity blurs who can be told the truth and when an engagement should end. You should be able to end this cleanly, and so should I.
How is the fee invoiced?+
For US clients, a monthly services agreement, invoiced in US dollars and paid by wire or ACH. UK, European and Australian clients have their own pricing pages with local terms.
Is the price different in the UK, Europe or Australia?+
Yes, regional pages show local pricing. UK: £2,000 to £4,600 a month after a £3,200 Clarity Sprint. Europe: €2,200 to €5,200 a month after a €3,700 Sprint. Australia: A$3,200 to A$7,500 a month after a US$4,000 Sprint.
